Ministries & Locations
History
In the early years YWAM Hong Kong was located in a central location on the renowned Hong Kong island. All ministries, outreaches, schools and community development programs operated out of this single location.
In the early 90′s we lost the prime location that we once used for free. At that point, ministries targeting the urban crowd relocated to urban areas, while those mostly involved in training, discipleship, and mobilizing people to work among the unreached (that’s us!) moved to Hong Kong’s New Territories.
Locations
Now, YWAM Hong Kong has 1 main, and 5 satellite, operating locations. Here’s a short intro to each:
Shanti ministries works mostly with South Asian nationals and is based in the town of Yuen Long, about 10 minutes from the main base and office.
Small World Christian Kindergarden (SWCK) is ministering to the small half of the world. SWCK is also a licensed educational provider and is located at the original YWAM HK premises on Hong Kong Island.
Inner City Ministries is in the heart of the tourist and minority community in Kowloon, and is working with drug addicts, prostitutes, and the unemployed, helping them in practical ways and sharing the life-changing truth of Gods love.
Sports Services Int’l is YWAM’s Sports Services ministry is reaching out to today’s youth of Hong Kong by blending ministry with coaching and basketball, volleyball, soccer, and rugby sports camps.
Masters Beauty Ministry is focused on the performing arts and is located in Tuen Mun. MBM does alot of preparation in the dance studio. They currently run an Performing Arts DTS and a School of Performing Arts.
The Kam Tin Center
Finally, we (here at the Main Base and National Office) are located in Kam Tin, a beautiful 800 year old Chinese village. Other than the previous satellite ministries, all YWAM training programs and outreaches, such as the DTS, SOFM, FEET Teams, Christmas Outreach, TESOL, English For Missions, and more are conducted here at the Training Base.
